40:00 Bret didn't want to leave as Champion. He was only refusing to lose to Shawn because Shawn had openly said he wouldn't lose to Bret. Bret offered to lose the belt to Taker, Vader, Austin, Foley, or Shamrock.
There was a legal impossibility of Bret showing up on WCW TV before 1 Dec, and there was an injunction against WCW from ever showing a WWF belt on TV stemming from the Alundra Blayze/Madusa WWF Women's title incident.
It's amazing how many wrestlers actually believe/believed Vince's version of events.

To be clear: I agree that Blackman should be in the HOF. I think many people were overlooked being under the shadow of Rock, HHH, Austin, Kane, Taker, etc.

I'm never going to Africa after watching and listening to Steve Blackman experience in Africa. The most underrated wrestler from the attitude era.
Africas definitely different, the sickest I've been in my life was the 2 times I was in Africa and it just comes out of nowhere then you're sick for days until it just suddenly goes away. the mosquitos are like 4 times the size of the ones in America too and they leave scars.
I notice after most sentences he says, "so." Letting you know he is finished with his thoughts and its your turn.
